Golfing in Bremen and golfing in Hanover is now very popular. Almost all representatives of the founding clubs of the Golf-Verband Niedersachsen-Bremen e.V. met on October 26, 1974 for the first general meeting of the golf association at the Hotel Luisenhof in Hanover. The State Sports Association and the Hanover Golf Club were invited as guests of honor. During the event, the then President of the Golf Bremen and Golf Hanover Association, Dr. Wilhelm Kohlschein, presented the then President of the Pyrmont Golf Club with a newly donated challenge trophy for winning the first association competition. These were won on the golf course of the Hanover Golf Club by the Pyrmont Golf Club in August 1974. This very first challenge trophy of the Golf-Verband Niedersachsen-Bremen e.V. is still played annually today. Incidentally, the Golf Association (Bremen-Lower Saxony) was founded by Golfen in Bremen and Golfen in Hanover on December 15, 1973 by the following 12 golf clubs: Burgdorfer GC, Oldenburgischer GC, GC Harz, Club zur Vahr, Osnabrücker GC, GC An der Göhrde, GC Bad Salzdetfurth-Hildesheim, Pyrmonter GC, GC Hannover, GC Norderney, GC Göttingen and GK Braunschweig.
