The player must play without undue delay and in accordance with any pace of play policy that may be issued by the course management. Between the completion of a hole and play on the next tee the player must not delay play unreasonably.
PENALTY FOR BREACH OF RULE 6-7:
Hole play - Hole loss;
Counting game - two strokes.
Competitions against par - see Note 2 to Rule 32-1a.
Stableford competitions - see Note 2 to Rule 32-1b.
Subsequent breach - disqualification.
Note 1: If the player unreasonably delays play between holes, he delays play of the next hole and incurs the penalty for that hole, except in competitions for par or Stableford (see Rule 32).
Note 2: In order to prevent slow play, the Director of Golf may issue guidelines for the pace of play in the rules of a competition (Rule 33-1), including maximum permitted times for completing a set round, hole or stroke.
In stroke play only, the Director of Golf may vary the penalty for breach of this rule in such an announcement as follows:
First offense - One stroke;
Second offense - two strokes.
Subsequent violation - disqualification.
