"The number of strokes a player has taken includes all penalty strokes he has incurred."²
According to the golf rule "9-1 Information on stroke count", all golf penalty strokes are also added to the score. It is at the discretion of the player to provide information about the number of strokes. Ultimately, it is only important that the correct number of strokes is entered on the scorecard signed by the player and counter.
