Golf club and golf course in Dortmund: In 1969, the Dortmund Garrison Golf Club was founded by the British Army of the Rhine for soldiers stationed in Dortmund and the surrounding area on the site of the former Dortmund airfield. In 1982, on the initiative of President Brigadier Michael Jones, an 18-hole course with clubhouse was built on the eastern outskirts of Dortmund. The current German Royal Saint Barbara's Golf Club was then founded in 1995 and the Englishmen handed over the business. The new board has invested several million euros in the redesign of the golf course and clubhouse to date.
