Golf club and golf course in Essen: The history of today's 27-hole course dates back to 1970, when the English golf architect Donald Harradine designed the first holes of the traditional Essen golf club in the Heidhausen district. This is located in the attractive south of Essen, in a landscape conservation area. The first complete 18 holes were officially opened in 1976. In 1999, further holes were opened alongside the "old" south course. With a par 32, these are rather short but still quite tricky and are considered an ideal addition for playing and training.
