Number of clubs
Correct behavior in golf: Why is there a rule that says you can only take a limited number of clubs with you on a round?
Why are you only allowed to take 14 clubs on a round?
Many years ago, the official Rules of Golf of the R&A Golf Club in St. Andrews stipulated that a golfer may carry a maximum of 14 golf clubs on a tournament round. If a player has entered with fewer than 14 golf clubs , he may add as many as he wishes during the round, provided that the total number does not exceed the permitted 14, but the addition of a club or clubs must not unreasonably delay play and the player must not add or borrow a club that anyone playing on the course has chosen to play. Playing partners may also share clubs provided the number of clubs carried and shared by the partners does not exceed 14.
