Golf hybrid clubs: not just a replacement for long irons

The hybrid is becoming more and more important in golf, so much so that many tour professionals now use one too. It combines the wood and the classic iron not only in looks but also in their advantages. This makes it easy to cover longer distances while still offering the good control and accuracy of an iron. Also known as a rescue club, it is a popular choice from the semi-rough or the fairway when longer distances need to be covered.

Most golfers find a golf hybrid club very pleasant to play. Many golfers also find it easy to choose the right club during a round, since, as mentioned, it is closely modelled on the irons. When choosing a rescue club in particular, the total number of clubs in your golf bag becomes relevant, so choose this type carefully so that you don't exceed the maximum of 14 golf clubs allowed. Simply count the clubs in your bag on your next round: that way nothing can go wrong, and you may even have room left in your bag.

Which golf hybrid club do you really need?

Of course, choosing the right equipment is always a decision players have to make for themselves. In most cases, soft factors, your so-called gut feeling, play a decisive role. Even so, with rescue clubs you can make a small pre-selection. When packing your bag, think about which golf course you will be playing. These days you can easily view a course's scorecard online.
